Controlling Epidemics of Emerging and Established Plant Virus Diseases: The Way Forward, 10th International Plant Virus Epidemiology Symposium, ICRISAT, Hyderabad, India.

Description: The past two decades have seen tremendous advances in the fields of plant virus epidemiology and control through use of conventional and modern techniques significantly contributing to the effective management of numerous virus diseases. At the same time, several unknown viruses have emerged in new niches and several established viruses have become resurgent, greatly affecting the productivity of crops. The 10th IPVE symposium will provide a forum of experts for exchange of information on the causes of virus epidemics, with a principal focus on virus disease control. It is a great opportunity particularly for young scientists and students to meet and interact with eminent virologists from across the globe. Visit www.ipve2007.net for latest updates and for pre-registration online to receive further updates on the meeting.

Sustainable Resources 2003: An International Forum Connecting People of the Developing World with Skills, Capital, and Collaborative Organizations
University of Colorado, Boulder
Description: With a current population of 6 billion, the world is becoming a place in which human populations are more crowded, more consuming, more polluting, more connected, and in many ways less diverse than at any time in history. In the next two decades, almost 2 billion additional people are expected to populate the Earth, a number roughly equivalent to the world's total population in 1940. It is estimated that 95% of that growth will take place in developing or underdeveloped countries. Sustainable Resources 2003 provided unique opportunities for non-profits, NGOs, donors, funding agencies, humanitarian organizations, educators, engineers, business people, volunteers, and representatives of developing communities to meet, learn from each other, network, discuss new approaches for outreach, and create new partnerships.
